The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is officially underway in Las Vegas, and the 2026 edition is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated in history. With a guaranteed prize pool already exceeding $100 million and a packed schedule of 95 bracelet events, the action at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino promises to be nothing short of spectacular.

This year's WSOP runs from May 26 through July 14, featuring a mix of classic favorites and innovative new formats. The $10,000 Main Event, set to begin on July 3, is expected to draw a record field, fueled by the recent surge in online satellites and international player interest. Early numbers show that Day 1 flights for several lower buy-in events have already surpassed last year's turnout, signaling a strong recovery for live poker's biggest festival.

Industry experts are particularly focused on the impact of the newly introduced "Mystery Bounty" events and the return of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. "The 2026 WSOP feels like a tipping point," said poker analyst David "Viffer" Williams. "The prize pools are getting bigger, the fields are getting younger, and the skill gap is narrowing. We're seeing a new generation of players who grew up on solvers and GTO theory, and they're hungry for bracelets." Williams also noted that the $100 million overall guarantee is "a statement of confidence" from WSOP organizers, who have invested heavily in streaming infrastructure and international satellite programs.
