Poker Returns to Palms Las Vegas (US) for First Time in 12 Years — WPT Heads to Iconic Strip Venue

After more than a decade away from the felt, live poker is making a triumphant return to the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas this summer. The iconic off-Strip property, which hasn’t hosted a poker room since 2012, will welcome the World Poker Tour (WPT) for a major stop from July 22 to July 31, 2025 — marking the first time cards will be dealt in the venue since its closure under previous ownership.

The centerpiece of the return is the WPT Palms Poker Showdown, a $5,000 buy-in Main Event with a guaranteed $3 million prize pool. The tournament will take place in the newly renovated Palms ballroom, which will temporarily house up to 60 tables. Alongside the Main Event, the schedule includes a $1,100 buy-in opening flight, a $10,400 High Roller, and an $800 buy-in Seniors Event, plus satellites beginning July 22. The multi-million-dollar guarantee positions this stop as one of the summer’s most significant tournament offerings in the US.

“Poker has always been synonymous with the Palms,” said Palms General Manager Cynthia Kiser Murphey in an official release. “Bringing the WPT back to our property honors that legacy while introducing a new generation of players to our resort.” WPT CEO Adam Pliska echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership a “natural fit” given the Palms’ storied history with WPT events dating back to the early 2000s. The Palms famously hosted WPT broadcasts during the poker boom, including the legendary $25,000 buy-in championship events televised on Travel Channel.
